Corporate volunteering platform, a space to build alliances

Post by Bappy11 »

According to figures from the 2018 National Survey on Volunteering and Solidarity , the number of people volunteering in our country has increased by 25% compared to 2015. While still below the international level, this is encouraging in local terms, as it reflects a movement that seeks to exercise active citizenship through participation and involvement in issues of social change and influence.

However, like any growing movement, volunteering is not fully organized and the australia business email list information currently handled by the different actors in society, who can and should be part of it, is rather disparate and, in many cases, insufficient.

According to the same survey mentioned above, the second reason why Chileans do not volunteer is because they do not know how or where to do it. And when we take this to the business world, only 12% of people have heard of/are familiar with the term corporate volunteering.

These data reveal a harsh reality, but above all, they open up a wide space of opportunities, especially for the world of companies and non-profit organizations (NPOs). Through collaborative alliances, they can provide the system with relevant information, feed it with experiences and generate results that benefit the community in general.

Both companies and NGOs need to strengthen the muscles and minimum structures that support and give stability and seriousness to the volunteering process. Companies need to understand it as a vehicle and opportunity to give meaning to work experience, and foundations need to advance in the generation of alliances, with a view to good management and transparency in their work.

At OTIC SOFOFA we have made great efforts to create networks that put companies in contact with different projects linked to the real needs of people and/or communities. For this reason, the SOFOFA Corporate Volunteering Platform seeks to be a bridge and a network that connects the needs and opportunities of both sectors.

On the platform, social organizations can show their projects and detail their requirements, which can be viewed and analyzed by companies and their collaborators, in order to decide which ones to participate in. Companies can also finance training for members of OSFLs, which is vital for the continuous improvement of their management.

Our mission, in short, is to show that corporate volunteering brings rewards of various kinds and generates social value. For this reason, we invite you to visit www.voluntariadooticsofofa.cl and join this solidarity network that we weave together.
