The Salt Palace is located 25 kilometers from the city of Uyuni. It is built from one million salt blocks weighing 10 thousand tons. The creator and owner of the unusual salt hotel is Don Juan Quesada. The first hotel building appeared on this site in the 90s. It was soon dismantled and rebuilt in 2002. It took about two years to create a capital structure from salt blocks.

Palacio de Sal is an original modern hotel, where not only the walls, but also all the furniture and many interior details are made of salt from the Uyuni salt flat. The fragility of the unusual material also suggests certain rules of conduct for hotel guests. Guests constantly try to make sure that the Palacio de sal building is really made of salt and taste the salt special database and furniture. That is why one of the main rules of the salt hotel is – Do not lick the walls!

The area of the unique salt hotel is 418 sq. m. 48 people at once. The Salt Palace offers its guests the greatest possible comfort and convenience. The Palacio de Sal hotel has swimming pools with sea water, a jacuzzi and a steam bath, billiards and a golf club, as well as a cinema and a restaurant serving traditional Bolivian cuisine.

Don Juan Quesada is not the first to try to create a salt hotel within the famous Uyuni salt flats. However, he was the one who was lucky enough to successfully implement this idea. The fragile salt blocks are constantly being destroyed, and after the rainy season, the Salt Palace always requires major restoration.
