Online Desk: The cabinet has approved the proposal not to keep quotas for first and second class posts in government jobs. As a result, there will be no quota in first and second class government jobs, i.e. jobs from 9th to 13th grade. Appointments to these posts will be based on merit.
The approval was given at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam confirmed the matter to reporters after the meeting.
Shafiul Alam told reporters that as a result of the cabinet approval, there will be no more quotas for first and second class posts in government jobs. However, the existing quotas for third and fourth class posts will remain as before. A notification in this regard will be issued soon.
The secretaries' committee, headed by the cabinet secretary, country email list recommended withdrawing quotas for first and second class cadre and non-cadre posts in government jobs and maintaining job quotas for other third and fourth class posts. The secretaries' committee's recommendation was later handed over to the Prime Minister.
It is worth noting that until now, 56 percent of government job vacancies were reserved for various quotas. Of these, 30 percent were for children of freedom fighters, 10 percent for women, 10 percent for districts, 5 percent for ethnic minorities, and 1 percent for the disabled.
