In our era many so-called

However, when we hear the saber rattling from Iran, Russia, China, and North Korea, it tends to freak us out a little. We start thinking about the end times. All of these things are just a part of living in this world. As the end approaches, we will see an increase in this type of activity. We must not allow these things to bother us.

4. v. 8b There Will Be An Increase In Earthquakes-This world is no stranger to earthquakes. Scientists tell us that over 13 million people have died in earthquakes in the last 4,000 years. We saw with our own singapore phone directory eyes what an earthquake can do when a powerful earthquake occurred under the Pacific Ocean in December 2003. That earthquake generated a tsunami that killed 300,000 people!

In 1811-1812 there was a series of greatearthquakes in Arkansas, which reordered the landscape of the area; causedrivers to change their courses; filled the sky with dirt and ash; and sparkedmany fires.

On May 18, 1980, a volcano called Mount St. Helen's in Montana erupted. This eruption was triggered by a violent earthquake that caused a rockslide composed of half a cubic mile of rock. As the summit and north slope of that volcano slid down their sides, pressure was released within the volcano, where super-hot liquid water quickly turned to steam. The northward-directed steam explosion released energy equivalent to 20 million tons of TNT, which washed away 150 square miles of shoreline in six minutes. At Spirit Lake, north of the volcano, a huge wave of water, initiated by an eighth cubic mile of rockfall debris, uprooted trees from hillsides as high as 850 feet above the pre-eruption water level. The total energy output on May 18 was equivalent to 400 million tons of TNT, roughly 20,000 Hiroshima-sized atomic bombs. The explosion flooded cities as far away as 250 miles with volcanic ash.
