After convincing ourselves to install Google Analytics 4 (GA4), either because we have read about its benefits or because we are less than a year away from the old version, Universal Analytics, stopping working , we have to get down to work and install and configure GA4 on our website . In this article we will teach you how to do it step by step using Google Tag Manager.


The basic configuration of Google Analytics 4 with Tag Manager can be performed by anyone with an elementary level of knowledge in these tools. It is very easy to do, it only consists of 4 steps that we explain in detail below.



Step 1: Create the new Google Analytics 4 property and data stream

Step 2: Create a data flow for the Web
A data stream is the source of information for a property , and a GA4 property can have multiple streams: one for web, one for apps. Let's set up a data stream for web by selecting the Web button:
